Macbook Pro 2017 - Back Case Expanded roughly a 1/4 inch

I have a Macbook Pro 13" Laptop (purchased May 2018) and I noticed that the lid was not closing completely. I kind of ignored it for a few months since it is not my main laptop. I grabbed it tonight and when I looked at the left side of the case, it has popped open at least a quarter of an inch. See below. Is this a battery that expanded? I have never seen anything like this!!

WOW OMG... it looks like your battery is totally gone.

Please shut down the Mac and disconnect the battery before it kills the logic board, the screen, the trackpad.

Has it bended the lower case either or just the bottom lid? I can't tell for sure by the picture.

Anyway, remove the bottom lid and leave it off, so it won't resist to the pressure of the battery. It could bend the lower case itself, which means bending the logic board, the keyboard and the trackpad too. It can even crack the screen. A total disaster.
