OS X Install
Formatted my Macbook Air and trying to install OS X but when it asks what disk to install, nothing shows up. Mac HD disappeared in Disk Utility, only Apple SSD Media shows up.

Select the "Apple SSD Media" and erase it as GUID partition and MacOS Extended (Journaled).
If you are booted to a very old macOS installer you may instead need to use the "Partition" tab/button instead. Select "1 partition" from the drop down box. Then click on the "Options" or "Advanced" button in the middle of Disk Utility so you can select the "GUID" partition map style. Click "Apply" and return to the partition tab to make sure "MacOS Extended (Journaled) is selected for the file system. Name the drive as "Macintosh HD" and click "Apply".
You should now have a properly formatted/erased drive suitable for a destination for the macOS installer.
