I have the latest & greatest version of the subject software loaded on my Macbook Pro and have Catalina 10.15.6 loaded ... every time I use Acrobat Reader DC I receive the spinning beachball and have to force close the application .. any suggestions to resolve?

Have you tried deleting the app and reinstalling it from a fresh download?
Quick test. Open the System Preferences and create a new test account. Login to it and try Acrobat there.
FWIW, I had the same issue with v. 20.012.20041, although if I waited out the beachball it eventually loaded. Deleting "Recents" from Reader stopped the beachball when opening.
Although Acrobat Reader DC has had the spinning beachballs over the last year for me, it now loads a 57-page PDF with text and images with no spinning beachball artifacts. There are several Recent files in that sub-menu, and the version is 2020.009.20074. Operating system is 10.14.6 (18G6020) on a 4GB MacBook Air.
I am on the road today, and Mojave is all I have loaded on this Air, but I am reasonably certain that I do not have beachballs on the home-based Catalina 10.15.6 with Supplemental Update applied, and this release of Acrobat Reader.
I appreciate the answer above, but after clearing the recents I still have the beach ball effect. I was hoping the action mentioned above would resolve as I am all about easy fixes ... any other suggestions folks?
Sorry it didn't work for you. Reader opens instantly for me now. Hopefully someone will have another idea.
My reader opens but shortly thereafter it goes into beach ball mode and doesn't recover ... I do appreciate the response/willingness to assist
After reading your comment, I deleted all programs associated with Adobe. Downloaded a fresh version and still get the beachball ... don't have the issue onmy wife's iMac, just on my MacBook Pro?
