New Apple Pencil Gen 2 Nib
Hi, i just got the apple pencil 2 last week and the nib keeps unscrewing slightly as i write on a paperlike screen protector. Is this normal? I don't have any other nibs to test it with.

Like LotusPilot suggests, I recently read an article which suggests paperlike screen protectors are harder on the pencil nib and this is likely what is causing your issue. You will likely need to simply get in the habit of tightening your nib before each use to ensure it operates correctly. And you should also plan to have replacement nibs on hand so you're not interrupted if one wears out. You can buy a pack of four from Apple for $19.95.

The rough surface of the Paperlike screen protector will cause increased wear of the pencil tip - but should not cause a correctly fitted pencil-tip to unscrew.
Replacement Pencil tips are available from Apple - in packs of four.

It's not just you, the page says sorry for me as well.
I should have added that I also use the very same nib protectors on my Apple Pencil Demo linked. For me, they work great, but I don't use my pencil for precise drawing. I do write (sloppily) however. My partner is horrendously rough on his Apple Pencil. I was putting a new protector on his pencil once a week. I gave up. He also wears out the Pencil Nibs routinely and has scratched his screen protector up. Fortunately, while it bothers me, it bothers him not at all. I have to buy the 4 pack of Nibs from Apple about every 6 months :-( due to how tough he is on them.
I’m not sure how much of a difference these would make, but I use them in my 1st generation Apple Pencil. What I like about them is that they protect the built in screen protector that I have with my third party smart case.

I was using the pencil without these nibs and it was scratching the daylights out of the prior case that I had which also had a built in screen protector. I do find that depending on the app in which I am using the pencil, I don’t get the precise control that I had without using the nibs. I have a few drawing apps and some of the finer line work takes a more precise touch than it does without using the nibs and sometimes I am better off using my finger.
BTW, these were recommended to me by my friend lobsterghost1 who posted above me.
Weird, let me try that again.
OK. I think this one is OK. It worked for me.
Demo... it may be just be for me, but for info:
Wow - that’s tough love for a Pencil tip...
I’m still using my original - it’s just like new after almost three years 🙂
Waffles seems to be happy with your updated link.
Tough love, indeed. When he goes to bed at night, I often take his iPad and at least clean the screen completely, trying NOT to look at all the scratches on the screen protector.
👍😊
