Upgrade MacBook Air 2018 13.3 inch

Can my 2018 MacBook Air 13.3 be upgraded from MacOS Mojave to Catalina? Where can I take it for a thorough check? It’s collecting dust and it’s only 2 years old. I can’t even sign-on because I can’t remember my password and it want reset with my AppleID. Is this a common problem with the 2018 MacBook Air? Should I trade it in? A few months ago I spoke to two Apple support techs via telephone. Both were very pleasant and talked me through the instructions step by step to reset the MacBook but to no avail, the screen would freeze at a certain point every time. Consequently, a separate support service call is scheduled for further assistance as recommended. Unfortunately, I missed the call due to my work schedule. I really would like to get this resolved.
