If you hold down the n key, you should get a popup menu where you can choose ñ.

Thanks Tom, since I posted this I figured out that I can't have caps lock on when I do the option N and expect it to work. If I do that I get an ˜N. I must do an option-n and then shift-n with caps lock off. I recently started corresponding with my brother who has vision issues, and he types his messages to me in all caps as it makes it much easier for him to read. So going forward, I will turn caps lock off when I get to an Ñ and then switch it back on. Much obliged anyway!!
The press and hold system works with caps lock on. You just hold down N, the popup menu should appear, and hitting the 1 key should give you Ñ.
