iPad Air not connecting to magic keyboard

I have restarted and updated my new iPad Air 3rd generation. But still it won’t recognize my Smart Keyboard. I also tried cleaning connectors.

What do I do if my iPad doesn't recognize the Magic Keyboard? I just received my new Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 11". When I attach my iPad the keyboard isn't recognized. I tried gently wiping the smart connector pads on the back of the iPad and gently wiping the corresponding brass looking pips on the Magic Keyboard and then reattaching the iPad and it still isn't recognized. Without having another smart connector accessory I can't tell if it's my iPad or if it's the Magic Keyboard that isn't working. Has anybody else had this experience?

Your subject says Magic Keyboard. Did you buy the Apple Magic Keyboard for an iPad Air 3? If you did, it is not made for iPad Air 3 at all.
