What is the shortcut for changing writing direction in mail?

What is the shortcut for changing writing direction in mail? With the mouse, the procedure requires clicking "format", moving down to "alignment", moving right to the sub-menu, moving right to "writing direction", moving right to the sub-sub-menu, moving down to the desired option, and clicking - 6 steps! Couldn't Apple think of a harder way to do it?...

Use bidirectional keyboard shortcuts

  • Make sure the preference to enable shortcuts is selected for the language in the Input Sources pane of Keyboard preferences. Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Keyboard, then click Input Sources.
    • Change selected text to left to right: Press Command-Option-Control-Right Arrow.
    • Change selected text to right to left: Press Command-Option-Control-Left Arrow.
    • Change selected text to the default direction: Press Command-Option-Control-Down Arrow.
    • Change a paragraph to left to right: Press Command-Control-Right Arrow.
    • Change a paragraph to right to left: Press Command-Control-Left Arrow.
    • Change a paragraph to the default direction: Press Command-Control-Down Arrow.
    • Type Arabic short date in the order it’s displayed: Press Control-Slash to enter each slash.
