Can’t download latest upgrades up to Catalina

Hey I have a MacBook Pro 13‘ from early 2015 still with high sierra 10.13.6


i found all the downloads from the Apple support website but either it says that my volume is not ok for installing the upgrade or I need a lower upgrade before but all I tried I’m not able to install my upgrades in the right order. I checked my volume so I have 37gb left but I’m still not able to install it. Need help to upgrade up to Catalina. What could the next step look like?

You may have to convert the drive from HFS+ to apfs (?)


Apple provides non-destructive methods for start-up disk drives for APFS conversion, and hence no data (files or folders) will be lost. 


On the other hand, APFS formatting will erase all the files and folders stored on the external hard drive. If not backed up earlier, APFS formatting on the external drive will cause data loss. Even with the start-up drive, one may delete or lose files from the APFS formatted media.

Restart the Mac into Recovery Mode.

 Recovery: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204904


Launch Disk utility.

Click-select your named boot volume—the default name is "Macintosh HD" —(Not the physical drive above it.

In the Disk Utility> Edit menu> select “Convert to APFS"
