Photos taken from iPhone 11 pro takes time to clear

I have noticed that the photos taken from my iPhone 11 pro are blurry at first and takes about 5-6 seconds to clear and it is very annoying.

some times it even takes upto 10 seconds to make that image clear(sharp).

Is there a fix for this ?

Do you mean immediately after taking the photos or when browsing the photos?

Immediately after taking a deep fusion photo the processing takes a second or two, after all, the camera needs to merge nine photos, but I have never seen it taking up to ten seconds. That it just too much time. That is why I wondered if an iCloud upload and download might be involved .

If it is after taking the photos, there is hope:

The iOS 14 preview promises a faster camera, see: iOS 14 Preview - Features - Apple

Improved shot-to-shot performance

You can now shoot photos up to 90% faster,18 at up to 4 frames per second.18 Time to first shot is now up to 25% faster,18 and Portrait shot-to-shot is up to 15% faster.18 And with a new setting to prioritize faster shooting, Camera can intelligently modify how photos are processed so you can shoot even faster and never miss a shot.

Hi, Hope you are well.

There is no fix for this. What is actually happening is a process called deep fusion. This basically analyses every single pixel in the photo and adjusts sharpness, contrast and many other things to make sure that your photo is the best that it can be. The initial blurriness of the photo for about 5 - 6 seconds is the phone running the deep fusion process. In theory, after taking the photo, it should only ever happen once, after that the deep fusion process doesn't have to run again.

It could also be due to using iCloud photos, if your internet connection is slow, then it will take the phone some time to retrieve the data from the cloud.

I will include some links where you can learn more about "Deep Fusion" On iPhone 11 and later!

Thank you for the reply,

But I thought deep fusion is not required for all the photos, I thought it was for grainy objects like sweaters or for noisy pictures and low light.

Anyway, yes this process takes place only once per photo and it doesn’t happen ever again for that photo.

Also, my iCloud photos is turned off and all my photos are stored locally and even if I am using iCloud photos, I have an Internet connection of 50mbps on both side i.e; download and upload and I believe that this speed should be sufficient.

Correct, deep fusion is not always used in every photo, But the blur can also be due to other processing tasks such as HDR (High Dynamic Rage) Or smart HDR. I'm sure in future updates Apple may speed up these processes so you don't notice the initial blur. I can't be 100% sure that it is "Deep Fusion" But since this only really occurs on iPhone 11 (Which is the only phone with "Deep Fusion" at the moment) I think the initial blur may have something to do with that. I'm more than happy to do deeper research into this for you? Just let me know.

Hope this helps, Stay Safe!

What exactly are you meaning by "blurry at first" and take time to clear? If most photos take a long time to appear to be sharp, after you enlarge them, it may simply being the download time from iCloud. Is iCloud Photos enabled on your iPhone and also "Optimise iPhone storage"? Then the download from iCloud may take several seconds, before you are seeing the images sharp, particularly the Portrait Mode photos, because the depth map takes a long time to download. You may want to check the Settings > Your Name > iCloud > iCloud Photos.

On my iPhone 11 Pro Max the HDR photos and deep fusion photos are always instantly sharp - but my iPhone has plenty of local storage and I do not need to use "Optimise Storage" with iCloud. As long as the photos are stored locally, they always will be sharp immediately, when I enlarge them.

Thank you for your reply,

What I meant by blurry image and takes time to clear(sharp) is that just after clicking a picture the image is blurry and takes 5-6 seconds to become sharp (without Enlarging or zooming in)

Also doesn’t happen all the time,

it happens only once per image, just after clicking it.

Also doesn’t happen with downloaded images or images received from iMessage, whatsapp or any other application. It happens only with images taken from camera app.

I don’t use iCloud photos and I store all my photos locally as I have plenty of storage.
