Apple Pay and App Store not working with Face ID

The issue I’m having with my 11 Pro Max is rather strange and I couldn’t find anyone with similar problem anywhere.

So whenever I’m trying to use Apple Pay in stores it doesn’t work. It doesn’t matter if the ‘double-click the power button to open Apple Pay’ is turned ON or OFF, same outcome.
When I’m trying to download an app from the App Store and it tells me to press the power button twice to install, simply nothing happens when I do so. Nothing on the screen changes, it still asks me to double press the power button.

whats weird is that it wasn’t like that from the beginning of my usage of this phone. The problem occurred yesterday and I did not change anything in the settings lately.

Will answer some of your questions in advance:

a. Yes, I tried resetting Face ID

b. Yes, I had removed cards from Apple Pay and added them again

c. Yes, I tried factory reset my phone and set it up again

d. Yes, I can still use App Store and Apple Pay by typing in code, just the Face ID option is not working.

I have updated to 13.6.1 about a week ago but everything worked perfectly fine for a couple of days until yesterday.

Just wanted to let you know that I have finally figured it out!

Before an IPhone I had Google Pixel 2XL which was heavily modded, including bypassing the safetyNetCheck for Banking apps to work. I turned on the old Pixel couple of days ago to retrieve some data and from that point the modded banking app started interfering with my Apple Wallet in inexplicable way. I brought the Pixel back to stock software and everything started to work on my iPhone as it should. Kind of insane to me, was ready give up on this problem and return the iPhone. Thanks guys for commitment, appreciate that.

Hi! Thank you for your response! Unfortunately tried that too. I even tried creating NEW Apple ID and the problem is still there.

I am slowly running out of options. It seems like the problem is from the software side rather than hardware. Power button is working perfectly fine while locking phone for example. I have a suspicion it has to do with the newest 13.6.1 update but I'm not sure.

Hi Surowica,

Can you use face id to unlock your iphone? If yes then you might want to check in settings> face id and passcode, if app store and apple pay are enabled under face id.

Go to settings>Face ID & passcode> take a screenshot of that screen and post it here. edit out personal information

you may need to make an appointment with the nearest apple Store Genius Bar for an evaluation.

Yes, the Face ID unlocks my phone. It also works in Safari with password AutoFill.

It doesn’t work in App Store and in Apple Wallet.

Or not that it doesn’t work, I am just not able to reach the moment of identification via Face ID, I can’t get past the ‘double-click to install/pay” in App Store/Apple wallet.
