How to get Word doc. To open or download from iPad

In order for a document to open, you need a companion app which would permit the document to open. For a word doc, you would need to at least have Pages (the Apple equivalent of Word) or an Office 365 subscription if you have iPad pro, or Microsoft word if you don't have iPad Pro. Do you have these apps on your iPad?

Unless there is the forward box, which is the square box with the up arrow at the top, you likely cannot save the file to your iPad. iPadOS is a sandbox OS, meaning it's very secure, but one cannot download things to an iPad like one can do on a laptop. What I would be more inclined to do, would be to copy the content of the file and save it as a Word document, naming it what you want.
