You don't. There is no way to make appointments for shopping, nor do you need to make one. Appointments are only for service.
Just go to a store, and tell them you want to buy something.

Although with COVID-19 group size limitations it may be hard or impossible to get an in-person appointment where you are located, partly because of demand, and partly because Apple appears to be giving priority to visits to the genius bar for repairs. But you can have an online shopping session, and probably even pick up your purchase curbside at an Apple store.
Seems apple has shutdown the shopping appointments now. Probably until next year at some point.
For now, online orders only, and shipping to your house.
With the new strain in the U.K. and cases surging in the U.S, it does not look like in store shopping will be available for a while.
I just took a second look and after reading the one section on the web site for the McLean VA store it says this.

I missed the blurb stating that you can walk in now and don’t need an appointment. I wholeheartedly agree that it behooves people to make a reservation so that they don’t have to wait.

If you are going to be buying the watch at the store, then yes, you need an appointment for some stores. Check the "Shop with a Specialist" link provided in this thread many times already.

Use the "Shop with a specialist" link provided dozens of times already in the very thread you replied to.
Go to https://apple.com/retail, chose your store, and make an appointment.
Open the "Apple Store" IOS app on your phone (or download if not there already). Open the app, select "shop" and scroll down to the bottom where you see "Nearby Stores" and just below this "Reserve a shopping session". You may book within a 3 day window for shopping appointments.
