2020 iMac boot camp

I have a 2020 iMac (Mid-tier) and I've successfully loaded Windows 10 Home on my external SanDisk Extreme Pro SSD using WinToUSB. When I try to run the BCA software it hangs right at the beginning. I was able to get sound, networking and bluetooth all working, but I not the Radeon 5300M. This means I have the windows generic display driver and cannot use dual monitors or the full benefit of the graphics card.

I've tried downloading all kinds of AMD drivers, but they fail.

Where are the drivers for the 5300M? Is there any known workarounds for the BCA not loading or the AMD drivers?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.15

Have you tried https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/apple-boot-camp ?

An external disk installation has known issues. Do you want to consider installing it on the internal disk and testing the BC drivers?

I have finally got mine running properly except Bluetooth, but I have a work around for that.

I installed the AMD Red drivers from https://bootcampdrivers.com but the screen was split and the fans ran full tilt.

Also I had numerous other devices in the device manager with no drivers.

I booted it into MacOS and used the BootCamp assistant to download the latest Windows Support software. Went back into Windows and installed them. That resolved the Split Screen and fans going crazy it also eliminated all but one of the Other device with no drivers. Also nothing Bluetooth worked including the Apple Mouse and Keyboard.

I plugged in the keyboard and used a wired mouse to once again boot into MacOS.

Go into Settings under Bluetooth and delete the keyboard and mouse, then add them and any other Bluetooth devices you want to use.

Booted back into Windows and everthing worked, even though you can't access Bluetooth settings. I suspect that the one thing that doesn't have a driver in the device manager is the Bluetooth adapter.

I know this is convoluted but, hey it worked!

Still looking for that elusive Bluetooth driver :(

AMD is now wholly responsible for Windows drivers.

Way to go Apple and AMD! Release a new product with no supported driver for one of your products.

This has been an issue with AMD since their partnership with Apple. I prefer the Apple-nVidia relationship.

Thanks but I tried both the Red and Blue drivers and they both have major issues.

The Red splits my iMac screen into two mirrored screens. There is no way to adjust it in the settings or fix it as far as I can tell. I had to remove that driver completely. I then installed the Blue driver and my fans run at 100% even though my CPU and GPU have zero load and are in the 40 degrees celsius range.

Both of those drivers are broken.

Thank you for your efforts here and the details that you have provided.

I honestly was so angry yesterday, uninstalling and reinstalling drivers that I was about to return the iMac and just go buy a MacBook Pro and then build a Windows computer with the new Nvidia cards that were announced yesterday. You might have single-handedly prevented that from happening. Lol.

I am going to give it a go later today, and I will report back my findings.

So, I did everything that you said, PJ_in_RC.

My Bluetooth is working fine, but my split-screen is still an issue. Rather than show two mirrored images, however, I see the left screen, and it is stretched horizontally. Under the Display Settings, it shows two 2560x2880 displays. I cannot figure out how to resolve that issue. The fans are also working normally for me.

Let me ask you this. Did you just run the "Setup.exe" under the "Bootcamp" folder, or did you drill down into other folders and install other drivers one by one?

As I was writing this post, I think I figured out the stretched screen, but under "Display Resolution," the highest resolution option that I have is 3840 x 2160. No 5K option.

I just wish this would work. I cannot believe the amount of time I have invested in trying and getting this to work.

I didn't do anything. I installed the driver, and Bluetooth was working after rebooting the computer.

Additionally, I tried a few Windows applications that I need to use for work, and as soon as there is any graphics load, the app crashes. I figured that this was a one-off issue, so I installed a few games from my Steam library. The same thing happens when I launch any games that are graphics-heavy—very strange behavior.
