My Apple Watch series 3 gps says its capacity is 4.2gb in the about section when should be 8gb. I understand the actual storage won’t be exactly 8 and software accounts for some but half seems like a lot.

"Workaround: Unpair your watch, then pair it again with your phone. Set it up as a new watch rather than restoring from a backup. Use General > Software Update in the Watch app to update to watchOS 7. If you want to restore your watch from its latest backup after the update is complete, repeat these steps while choosing to restore from a backup rather than setting up as new."

Yes it should but on my iPhone XS Max is shows total capability is 256GB available 180GB . So why is the available on the watches showing 26.5GB and 4.2GB respectively under capacity
any solution for this? I reinstalled my watch 4 times already and still showing 4.2 capacity. I had to delete all my apps from the watch to make a recent upgrade to 7.1
I have talked to Apple twice, and they were not the least bit interested in the problem. Infuriating.

I have the same problem. I just got my watch on 1/12/2020. I have an appointment with Best Buy where I got it . I am paying for Apple care on it.
Mine only shows 2.5 for capacity. Did anyone figure out how to resolve this? I just Got my new series 3 for Christmas and my 2 had way more storage

What I think Apple should do, is let folks trade in this watch since it's basically defective. Maybe if enough people complain and request it, maybe they will come through.

I think Apple knows about the problem the serie 3 watch has only 4.2 GB and not 8 , they lie to people they supposed recall all the watches
I’m basically trading mine in for an SE. 8 gigs is not enough for these watches. Apparently the glitch is on every watch, Apple knows about it too.
