Disney+ won’t work with lightning/HDMI

Just wasted time chatting with Disney+ support. Verizon had a free offer for a Disney+ subscription, and the Disney app allowed me to download a movie to my phone. But I can’t play it in the TV using an Apple Lightning to HDMI adapter. Disney support confirms that it won’t work because of digital rights permissions. I don’t live in an area with broadband so the only option I have is to download elsewhere to play at home. Disney+ is worthless for me,

It isn't a "problem" it is an intentional use of DRM. Some content providers use it, some do not. It is not a problem with the setup or technology. If you want to do something productive make a list of all the content providers that use HDMI DRM to block the digital video signal (which is what Disney + does).

It does work with any media that is not blocked by DRM from the provider which in this case is Disney +. Return it and get your money back.

a cursory flex of Google fu will show that many, many people have this problem. My hope is that someone figured out a workaround and will share that. If not, at least people will know that there is a problem with the setup before making investments in technology. If I get it to work I’ll post the deets.
