I am sure I used to be able to use waze without wifi.
is this still possible? if so where do I need to set it up or change my present settings?

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Cellular and turn on cellular data for Waze. It should work without WiFi then.

thanks apf. I tried this, however waze for some reason is not included in the apps for cellular/mobil data.
the only way round the problem is to load a destination whilst at home (with wifi) and then it will pick
up the route when I start it without wifi. But doesn't really solve the problem if I am out with no wifi and
want to start a new route.

If you have a cellular connection, then Waze should work.
If you are without a cellular or wifi connection, you should contact Waze, as they can provide detailed support on their product. (waze.com)
