Arbitrarily getting logged off of my iPad

Since yesterday, my iPad has been arbitrarily logging me off. It doesn’t matter what app I’m using. The symptoms are always the same. The screen goes black, a box opens saying Zoom Enabled, then a small white spinning wheel comes up as if telling me to wait while something is happening and then finally the pin code screen shows up for me to sign in again.

I haven’t installed anything recently. I have auto updates enabled. My iPad is using iOS 12.4.8. I don’t know when the update to this level took place.

I did reset my iPad after totally powering off didn’t eliminate the problem.

I’ve probably been using the iPad about an hour since the restore before this auto log off started again. I’ve been auto logged off twice as I’ve been researching this issue from my iPad. As I write this post, I’m just waiting for the auto log out to happen again!

Any thoughts on how to resolve?

Hello SusanV123,

We'd love to assist you with resolving your iPad issue. Just to clarify, is the device only going to sleep when using a specific app on the device or when completing a certain command on the device?

Also, it sounds like you may have the Zoom Accessibility feature enabled. You can view more about the Accessibility features here: Use accessibility options to set up a new iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If this is not the issue please close all the open apps on the iPad, then restart it as normal and test it out again:

Restart your iPad

Have a great day!
