Flashing File ?
Trying to erase data to give iMac away. After erasing volume I now just have black screen with flashing file ? . How do I get screen back to reinstall?

1. Start up from macOS Recovery
To start up from macOS Recovery, turn on your Mac and immediately press and hold the following combinations on your keyboard.
Option-⌘-R
Upgrade to the latest macOS compatible with your Mac.

If it is an older iMac that originally came with a gray Install Disc set, then you will need to use those or a Snow Leopard Upgrade DVD to reinstall the OS X.

No disks. Mid 2014 unit.
Use the recovery partition.
Yes, finally got rid of it and on to setting back up. Tried so many things the combination of option-command-worked! Thanks to all !!
