Restore Playlists from either Time Machine back up or from iPod classic

I had to re-install catalina so I start with a fresh installation. A complete restore from the backup on Time Machine failed. Now I am manually restoring the items.

the music is (at least most of it) being restored from my iPod classic. yet the software I used (Imazing) did not restore all the playlists correctly.

Is there a way to:

  1. get the playlists from the iPod Classic into Music (Catalina) or
  2. restore the playlists from a time machine back up (the music is still stored in the old iTunes/ iTunes Music folder on backup.

In principle you can restore the iTunes Library.itl from Time Machine, although might not be needed,

Then see Empty/corrupt iTunes/Music library after upgrade/crash - Apple Community and try getting Music to convert the iTunes library once more, which will hopefully pull in the playlists.
