The latest update takes up so much space that only about a fifth of my Itunes music library( which cost a great deal of money, extra as I moved from a tower to ipad so had to rebuy stuff)can now download.. i have removed lots of pics and apps but they don't really make much impact. Is the only solution to buy a new ipad with Lots of memory? Expensive. Why does the ios take up such a huge proportion of the device? I wish I hadnt installed it.

Its not that I don't know what is taking up my space (except I dont know what is in ‘other’ which consumes a lot, how do I reduce?) Or that I dont have enough space to install the latest update. But now I have it, all my music has gone into the cloud. (I have painstakingly downloaded about 10% but no more will come). Music and boating are both important but in the grand scheme, the problem the system storage and other. No point being up to date if I cant use favourite apps!
Download my ipad to computer? Sounds difficult. Does it have to be a mac computer? I Will try and get help with that. Ipads are so nice and easy for simple folk like me. Until they’re not!
A PC (with iTunes installed) or a Mac (with iTunes or Finder - as appropriate for the installed version of macOS) will do the job equally well.
