Apple Watch 4 not charging overnight

My Apple Watch 4 isn't charging but it seems to think it is (blitz symbol in a circle). Last night I left it on to charge at 17%. This morning, nada. After another four hours sitting on its puck this morning at a different USB charger it's still got nothing in the tank.

If past performance is any guide, it will somehow limp back to life in another day of charging and finally get past some threshold and return to a decent power-cycle of rapid charging but if the power drops again, it's lights out.

Is there a solution to this?

Give it a hard reboot. Mine did this (showed as charging even when not on the charger) and a reboot solved it. I was using an aftermarket charger (Apple approved but don't trust it now) and have now reverted to the Apple charger only.

From apple: To force restart your Apple Watch, press and hold both the side button and Digital Crown for at least 10 seconds, then release both buttons when you see the Apple logo
