Why is bird's eye view in Mission Control no longer working after most recent update?

After the most recent update (Catalina 10.15.6), Bird-eye view in Mission Control isn't working like it used to work. When I open Mission Control, the desktop appears but the app windows disappear (I.e. unable to drag them to a different desktop because they vanish). Is there a way to view and drag open windows to another desktop?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Does it say "No Windows Available" in the middle of the screen? That would indicate you've entered Application view and there are no windows for that app.

Otherwise,

Try restarting or maybe boot into Safe Mode and then restart normally.
