Charged for warranty/ recall repair at a registered Mac dealer

Hey I am checking to see if it is appropriate to be charged $89 for a product recall/ warranty repair. This was through a registered Mac service center, booked through the Apple website and I was charged to see what the issue was. I was already aware of the recall and warranty and had read the reviews, confirming that my issue was due to the faulty keyboard. Apple stores are closed in Melbourne and this store was my only choice due to lock down zones.

We are all just users like yourself. We aren't employees of Apple, so we do not have access to their information regarding warranty repairs. I think you best option is to talk to the people who repaired your computer. If they did not provide any explanation on the bill, then ask them to provide it to you.

If the repair shop isn't an authorized Apple service provider, then Apple doesn't reimburse them for the service. They were free to charge whatever they wanted. You were free to refuse. There is nothing we can do for you under the circumstances.

Thank you for providing that information as it was missing from your original post. You will have to ask the shop about the charge. We have no access to warranty coverage for repairs. We have no access to the billing to see what you were charged and for what.

Thank you for your support. From my original post. “This was through a registered Mac service center, booked through the Apple website” I guess I should have said Apple?

I am wanting to understand Apples stance on this matter and their expectations before going back to the Authorised Apple Service Provider. As they were the ones who charges this amount. When I scheduled this in through the Apple website, there was no mention of an $89 fee.

Is there a number I can call if this in not the right forum to ask? as I tried chat and call support options and it would not allow me to use that option. Hence coming here.

thank you
