Video calling on my MacBook Pro has been going nuts, lags and kills my CPU.

Am on a 2016 MacBook Pro 15" running 10.15.6, 16GB ram, Radeon Pro 460 4GB + Intel HD Graphics 530 - 1536mb.

With any video conference or screen sharing there is a huge lag, the graphics get scrambled(see image) and my CPU goes nuts. This has been going on since months (even before when I was at 10.13 High Sierra) and basically tried everything that I could as ex-ACSP.

Tested on Safari, Chrome (both up to date): Teams, FaceTime, Whereby, Slack, Skype and Facebook Video Calling. With 1 or more persons, on multiple occasions, multiple WIFI networks and 3/4Gs in multiple countries. Reseted the PRAM, SMC, tested different user accounts. Re-installed/updated the OS, cleaned Cache, removed permissions/preferences, switched on and off the integrated graphics cards etc.

The only thing I could think of is the CPU Temperature, so I have put the machine in a fridge, cooled it down to 19/20 degrees (Celsius) and still the problem occurs.

I am in aneed of a solution and will no longer accept "did you test on a different browser? or did you use a different user-account?" or "bring it to an Apple store (without AppleCare and risking having no Mac for 5-6 weeks).

Yes, I am aware there are other threads like this one, but all without any solution to this problem.

Thank you so much in advanced for anyone reading this and helping me out.

Best regards,

Daan

First of all do not put the laptop into a refrigerator or freezer. The sudden temperature change when you power on the laptop will stress the components and cause damage, plus it can create internal condensation which may show up as liquid damage (or even cause damage due to the liquid you created with the condensation).

Have you tried video calls when using a different network? Preferably using a different ISP?

Run EtreCheck and post the report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper.

Run the Apple Diagnostics.

I have seen reports of possible GPU issues with this model, but most of the posts usually involve power/sleep issues.
