Hi dwiti_94,

We understand you're unable to record audio using the microphones on AirPods while recording the screen. We're happy to help.

When you select Shift-Command-5 to access the screen recording controls, then select Options, is it not allowing you to select the AirPods microphone as the audio source? Or does it allow you to select it as the source, but then no audio is recorded?

How to record the screen on your Mac

Does the AirPods microphones work for other audio functions on the computer? For example if you make a recording in the Voice Memo's app, does it pick up the audio there?

If you're recording the screen of third-party applications, we also recommend checking your privacy settings to make sure Screen Recording and Microphone are enabled. Here's the steps to check that: Control access to screen recording on Mac

We hope this helps. Cheers!

Hi dwiti_94,

Thanks for confirming those details! So if the microphone on the AirPods works with other devices, it sounds like the microphone is operating properly.

Next you can try removing and re-pairing the Bluetooth connection with the computer. To remove the connection just go to System Preferences > Bluetooth, hover your mouse pointer over the AirPods then click the

Once they're removed you can use these steps to pair them with the computer again: Set up AirPods with your Mac and other Bluetooth devices

After re-pairing them, make sure they're set as the audio source for input and output, then test out something like Voice Memos or a FaceTime call and see if the microphones are working.

Thanks!

Hi dwiti_94,

Thanks for the update! So there's no apps that need permissions allowed for Screen Recording, thanks for including that image.

Now the microphones don't work for any audio functions. Thanks for testing that out. In System Preferences > Sound > Input tab, is "AirPods" currently selected as the microphone input source?

Do you use these AirPods with any other devices? If so, do the microphones work on there? If it's a phone for example, can you use the AirPods to make a phone call and can the other person hear you?

Thanks again for including these further details!
