my volume sounds really low!

So recently my volume on my MacBook has been sounding very low even when I put it all the way up. I searched to see how I can fix it and google said to go to settings > sound> output tab> then to choose internal speakers, but there is no option for that. The only option it's showing me is "macbook pro speakers". If someone knows a solution to this please help a fellow hooman out :) Catch you on the flippity flip!
