Messenger app not working on iPhone

I updated my phone this morning with the latest IOS 13.6.1 update and suddenly my Messenger app doesn't open. It flashes up then disappears.


I don't want to delete it because it will delete all the data in it. I have turned my phone on and off twice, it does nothing.


Any ideas?

Criteria: For activating iMessage, you need one-time SMS messaging service (If you have one, skip this) to be activated on your phone number. Depending on your carrier, you might be charged for this (for iMessage activation only) SMS.

If you have dual SIM then each time you switch plan between one number with another for iMessages this activation will be charged by your carrie. See the section :- Send Message with iMessage and SMS/MMS it is clearly said; additional charges may apple.


Contact your Carrier (Cellular Service Provider) The agency who issued the SIM to you to know whether you have SMS plan enabled at least for One SMS

4 Step Process --> Turn off and restart iMessage and FaceTime (The order / sequence is very important)

  1. Go to Settings > Messages and turn off iMessage.
  2. Go to Settings > FaceTime and turn off FaceTime.
  3. Restart your device.
  4. Turn iMessage and FaceTime back on. (Watch the GIF below)

I am having the same issue. I switched my phone off then on. I deleted the app then uploaded again. Still nothing. Then after 2-3 days it started working again. That was last week. But this week the same issue again. I did all of it again and nothing. Then after 1-2 days it started working again for 1 day only. Now having the issue back again. Not happy at all. My friend is having the same problem.

It is showing me there is not Internet connection even everything else is working including Facebook.

Not happy.

Hi,

I deleted the app as I mentioned before and reinstalled it again. That didn’t help.

But I worked it out later. Somehow with the latest update of my iPhone some settings has changed. I went to settings and saw my messenger was off, it must have happened when I installed the latest update as I didn’t do anything in my settings. So there was my issue. I just had enable switch back on in settings.

I have had the same issue since I believe the last or second last update. It’s been a few months. I even got a new phone and it’s still the same. Facebook works fine. Messenger will not allow me to log in. It just gives me a message saying it’s unable to complete the action and to try again later. Even when I use the “forgot password “ function. Yet I can access messenger using my iPad or laptop or desktop

is this an issue with my carrier??
