Numbers won't update on Mac --

I click the update button and it processes for hours with no results. If I open the App store, it just has the little spinning/processing icon at the top as if it is trying -- no progress bar, no reports, just spinning for hours and hours. Any thoughts on how to get it to actually update?

You haven't said what version of OS X or macOS you are using but I will venture a guess that it is High Sierra, 10.13.x or earlier. The current versions of Pages, Numbers & Keynote require Mojave or Catalina, macOS 10.14.6 or 10.15, to install. You need to update the OS before you can update the apps.
