Charging my iPad while screen sharing with an HDMI and lightning adapter.

I am having trouble with charging my ipad with my HDMI adapter. It has a port for both HDMI and lightning. What am I doing wrong? TIA!

iPad mini 4, iPadOS 13

While your HDMI Adapter is connected to your iPad (via Lightning), you will need to connect your Power Adapter to the auxiliary Lightning connector on the HDMI Adapter. This arrangement of connections provides pass-though power to charge your iPad.

Do the same cables and Power Adapter work, as expected, when directly connected to the iPad? If yes, this would suggest that your HDMI Adapter has a fault.

Thank you for your reply. I hate asking a question like this as I am fairly confident with my tech skills. I did what you said. Tried multiple lightning cables. The tablet still says not charging.

Thank you for your reply. I guess it was just finicky...after two days of trying to get it to work, it finally did. Maybe it was the order in which I plugged the cables in to the devices? IDK. It works now.
