Can't transfer E-mails from old iPad to new iPad

HI

I have just purchased a new Ipad (ios 13.5.1). All my files have transferred across from my old ipad (ios 10.3.3) except my e-mails. I have tried backup / restore on iTunes and iCloud.

I want to transfer across all the e-mails, including the folder structure. The new e-mails are downloading to the new ipad but I can’t see how to download all the old e-mails.

Looking online there is option to remove the but this isn’t available to me.

My e-mail is yahoo SMTP. E-mails were being downloaded as POP so long available on the server. The transfer appears to have changed this to IMAP and copied over the folder structure.

Email is not directly transferred with your backup between old and new devices. If using QuickStart, or restoring from backup, your email account settings should be replicated.

Assuming that your email accounts use IMAP, all your email, including archive, is stored on the Mail server. You simply download your email from the mail server

If you were previously using legacy POP3 (or POP3S), then your prior email may not have kept email on the server. POP3 can be configured in one of two principal configurations:

  • Download and leave a copy on the server
  • Download and delete from the server

When using the latter, as suggested by the description, email is not preserved on the server - which causes issues is using multiple mail clients to access your email. All mail is managed locally on the device to which it is downloaded.

By contrast, the former configuration allows email to be accessed from multiple clients; email is only removed from the server if intentionally deleted.
