Watch Face Crown Animation Stops Working

Hi,

just got the Apple Watch series 5 and I’ve been using the astronomy watch face and noticed a weird thing: the watch face crown animation stops working. With the astronomy face, you can spin the crown dial to speed up or go back in time. It works like this for an hour or two, and then all of a sudden it breaks; the date changes, but the planets don’t move at all. It does the same thing for the moon version as well. It clearly is still registering the crown dial, since the date is changing as I spin it, it’s just the animation that stops working. I tried deleting and reinstalling the face, made sure my phone and watch are up to date, and resetting both my phone and watch. Doesn’t matter, the animation still breaks after a couple hours. The only fix I know is to switch the watch face and then switch back. Is this a known issue, or is something wrong?

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup. This deletes all temp and corrupted files and re-indexes the file system.
