My beats headphones sound muffled when I try to record from garageband, but when I press the microphone on them, I guess it mutes the mic on the headphones and I can hear garageband clearly, can someone help cuz Im mad confused lol

I guess it's muting that I'm doing but my friends use the same headphones with GarageBand and theirs works perfectly fine. Do I gotta buy a headphone cord without a mic? I have a sm7b mic btw with a cloud lifter and everything sounds great when I press that button, but obviously that's not the correct way to record it. I saw someone say the microphone on the headphones may be interfering with the interface sound coming through the headphones.

Here is an article on recording audio in GarageBand. This resource may help.

GarageBand for Mac: Record sound from a microphone or an electric instrument

You could also try to adjust the sound input (to your Mic instead of the headphones) or the input volume for your headphones through System Preferences.

Change the sound input settings on Mac

If you continue to experience troubles, please respond with these follow up questions to help the community get a better understanding to assist you.

  • What Beats headphones are you recording with?
  • Does this happen all the time or intermittently?
  • Have you tried using another pair of headphones? Does the observed behavior change?

Have a great day!
