My Mac is not shutting down and I need help
The hard shutdown is a long press on the power button. Not recommended, but it will shut down your Mac.
To try to identify the issue, please download and enable full device access for and run EtreCheck. Then open a new reply here and then press the button that looks like a printed page to get a text input box big enough to paste the hardware and software configuration report here.
Common culprits here are add-on anti-malware apps, add-on anti-virus apps, add-on cleaner apps, add-on VPN clients, and similar. That sometimes combined with adware or other junk.
Hardware issues can also potentially be a factor.
