Photos

When I open the Photos app a screen opens saying "Updating Library. . . 95% complete". The percentage never changes. In the meantime I cannot use Photos. What can I do?

Quit or Force Quit Photos, then start it while holding down cmd+option keys. It will ask if you want to Rebuild the Library.

Do you have a backup? It would be best to have a backup before trying to rebuild it.
