Why can’t you have 2 apple ids in uk

Why can’t you have 2 Apple id’s? Particularly troubling if you work in US & travel home to UK. Also causing problems family sharing. Is it correct that if you switch over you lose all your previous downloads, films, music etc?9

Family sharing across countries is problematic for dual residents, any ideas on how to make it work? Our family of 5 are dual-residents of USA and The Netherlands. We have remained in the USA App/iTunes store in the USA because we fear losing access to purchases made over many years. However, as we also reside in Europe for a significant portion of each year, we increasingly desire Apps that are only available locally (such as credit card/bank Apps). Is there a way to have a second Apple ID just for downloading Apps from a second Apple store onto an iphone? Will such Apps still still work once logged into the first Apple ID? (Have bank credit cards at legal residence in second country.)

You won't lose the downloads, but you won't be able to update them. You will lose the subscriptions.

You can try setting up Family Sharing between the IDs if you want to be able to share purchases made with the IDs.
