Apps Think I'm Out of Hard Drive Space, Finder Shows I Have Plenty

Hi folks,


I'm getting a ton of errors telling me that my hard drive is full. Mail will quit because it doesn't have the space to store information about my mailboxes, Chrome refuses to download files because there isn't enough space in my downloads folder, Adobe Acrobat can't save files because there isn't enough space on my hard drive.


But according to Finder, I have over 400GB of free space on my hard drive. But when I go to Disk Utility, it tells another story. Finder is the number that *should* be correct; I've deleted nearly 300GB of files today. Disk Utility doesn't acknowledge any of that.

I have no idea what's going on here, but it's making it impossible to work. Any help would be appreciated.
