Mac Air is heating up.
My Mac Air is over heating. It sits on a fan. I keep it updated and do not run multiple apps if possible. It's almost 4 years old. What could cause this?

Dear Alice, it sounds like you are experiencing a common over heating problem found in older MacBook Air series notebooks. This can often be caused by the old age of the computer. You are doing the right things to keep it from over heating but try to keep an eye on the health and capacity of your CPU, (Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor) if everything looks good even when it gets hot, try to see if you can get the fan professionally cleaned out as there could be a significant amount of dust build up causing a lack of proper air flow through the computer.

Check Applications > Utilities > Activity Monitor, see if any processes are using significant CPU capacity.
