How to add invite.ics from Email to Calendar?

I have scheduled Zoom meetings that are emailed to me and come with an invite.ics file, and I would like to add them to my Apple Calendar.

In the native Email app,

I click on the invite.ics file (see below) and it immediately shows me a preview of it in Calendar (see below)

However, these is no option to add it to my calendar. I tried opening the invite.ics file in Gmail, but the only difference is that there is a Share button (see below),

but still there is no way to add it to the Calendar. Clicking on the Share button doesn't help as there is no option from there to import it to Calendar.

Is there any solution? Is there anyway to import (add) the invite.ics file to Calendar?

Thanks, and stay safe!

Hello and welcome to Apple Support Communities aarya161,

We see that you're having an issue adding and event to your calendar that is an invite.ics file. We understand, and we'd be happy to look into this with you.

Per the first screenshot that you provided in your post, once you select "Accept" at the bottom off the screen, it should add it to your calendar. Does this not happen? Are you able to select "Accept" or any of the other options on the screen?

We see that you also tried using your Gmail account. The steps from Gmail support might also help.

Hi,

Sorry for the very late reply.

It seems that after I received the invitation in my Gmail, I learned that moments later the event somehow automatically appeared in my Calendar app without me doing anything. It might not have shown me an option to add it probably because the event had already been processed and added.

I’m not sure if this is always the case, so I’m not sure if selecting “Accept” would do anything as I believe that just tells the creator of the event whether or not you will be attending rather than actually adding the event itself to Calendar, but nevertheless the problem got resolved.

If anyone can’t see an option to add an invite.ics, I would suggest actually going in the Apple Calendar app and scrolling down to the date for the event to see if it is there. If it isn’t, I would wait for some time (even 1 hour) or try reloading Calendar by clicking on any event, clicking “Calendar” in the event details, and scrolling down to reload. It should work.

Thanks!
