Has anyone recoved
a SECURITY NOTICE from AOL.net or AOL.com about an October 20,2020 Dealine to CHANGE APPLE MAIL security settings? I received such an email in one of 3 accounts from AOL.net - I have never seen aol.NET as an address... Only aol.COM. ---IS THIS LEGIT ?

I have just walked mother in law and elderly family friend through this process on an iPhone and Huawei. Honestly - I consider myself fairly tech savvy and this was complicated and confusing. The interaction below with another user and the AOL customer service team made me laugh - it is so true!
I am slightly speechless about AOL and the security or lack of that they are employing...
We opted for downloading the AOL app, because it seemed like the most straightforward option, but none of the options are ideal...! And the app is ridiculous.
Honestly. I cannot help but say leave AOL.
Thanks. Complicated and dang confusing! FOR sure. I am down to the wire TODAY OCT 19TH, and I just want to get my email using my 2 AOL addresses I have had ONLY ON A COMPUTER nada other toys!! WHO WOULD YOU RECOMMEND I create a simple email and free account with (and quickly) - I would hope that AOL web page would allow me to to "an away message" for a little while - Currently the 2 different AOL email addresses print themselves inside my Apple Mail window on my laptop and that's it - The "back door/ web mail" login in and out for separate accounts, obviously is a pain !!! Thanks for everyone's input - Help help, we are at the end of the line here come midnight with AOL email on THIS simple, plain, ole apple 'puter!

Thanks. Got it ...all the info i need for AOL's third party app for continuing my computer emails, effective 10/20/2020 ender AOL's new security regarding AOL emails in THIRD (3rd) party apps such as Apple Mail.
Who did you choose to go with, after leaving AOL? I had have a lot of questions about storage and prices regarding iCloud and 3 phones calls later have "earned me" 3 different answers. I was hoping iCloud was going to be a good choice AN EASY TO CREATE CHOICE.
I have to find those things once I figure out where to look for them. I'll get back shortly, I HOPE.

Good catch, no aol.net, in Mail highlight that eMail & in Mail's View menu choose Message>View all headers, look for IPs it came from or through.
Yes, there is an aol.mail.net, just not an aol.net, likely AOL is using MS's IP range, by rental or whatever.
Is your AOL mail working right now?
I just did this for my parents. I have no idea how anyone is going to know how to do this on their own. BTW, in the outgoing mail server where it says user ID is optional, it is not!
Whether I need to take any action on Aol mail if it comes up automatically on devices along with any other mail
