I just got Catalina. I used to be able to transfer files to different locations by opening the hard drive and having several windows of the hard drive open. Now, only one window of the hard drive will open, so I can't drag files between different applications.

Drag to the Tab and it should open that tab.
You may have to enable Spring Loaded folders under Pointer Control in the Accessibility system prefs.
