I've only ever used one apple ID on my new apple iMac and it says I can't update apps because it was purchased with a different apple ID

I got the iMac yesterday. I'm the only user and only used one apple ID with it. It won't let me update the apps that it already had installed by default giving this error "Cannot Update App. Numbers cannot be updated because it was refunded or purchased with a different Apple ID".

Example apps, iMovie, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, Garageband.

I asked the app to update all the apps and it gave me an error message for each one. Given I've only used one apple ID with this device the error message appears incorrect. Could a catalina OS update make the apple ID appear to be different than what it used to be? How to resolve this issue? I'd suggest an improvement to the UI is to avoid repeating showing the dialog for each app that reports an error and instead providing a summary and just one dialog.

The work around is to delete the apps and redownload them.
