I am trying to boot up 6 year old iMac . I tried safe mode as well . The computer boots up with apple logo and progress bar but then in middle of booting up it crashes and shuts off . Can’t get iit to boot up with safe on either

I am trying to boot up a 6 year old up Mac I tried safe mode it shows apple logo and progress bar but then it shuts off and won’t come on. Using the shift key didn’t work either

iMac 27″, macOS 10.12

Try installing macOS on and booting from external storage. You’ll need another Mac to create the bootable installer.
