Apple TV

For many years I watched the rented Apple movies via my projector and my home theater scream. Since recently, I get the message that "For playing this content HDCP is required". The same applies to Netflix content. All tv channels are fine via the projector. I did not change anything and still can see it via my TV. I the meantime I tried a new HDMI cable but still nothing. I turned on and off both of my Apple tv's, still nothing. Where is this coming from, out of the blue and how can I fix this?

If this happened suddenly without changes to any of the hardware, then try resetting the HDMI connection, by unplugging the cable on both ends, then reconnect. Although trying a new cable has the same effect.

Try turning off (not just standby/sleep) all AV equipment, wait a minute, then turn it all on again.

"High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection is a form of digital copy protection developed by Intel Corporation to prevent copying of digital audio & video content" - looks like the devices you are using are not compatible with this latest (annoying) digital protection.

For what it is worth, I use an Apple TV connected to a projector and it has continued to work well with movies rented from Apple. I even use an HMDI splitter so I can watch on either a TV or projector and they can display video at the same time
