Boot Camp/Windows Error

I’m trying to install Windows through Boot Camp Assistance on my iMac 27-inch 2017 (macOS Big Sur), but I keep getting this error message:

Windows cannot locate the disk and partition specified in the unattend answer file’s <ImageInstall> setting. Make sure the setting references a valid partitition and restart the installation

I have no external drives connected with USBs etc., I have reset NVRAM and SMC, the ISO file is on my desktop (even tried with the ISO on USB).

However, I have a Fusion Drive and I wonder wether the problem is due to this. When I boot up holding option key (before I create a Windows partition), I see that I have two EFIs. The one to the right doesn’t seem to work. Can/should I delete this one, and if so; how?

Thank you so much for your help!

  • Click on Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal.
  • Locate the ISO in macOS Finder.
  • In Terminal, enter
    • openssl md5
    • drag the ISO file name to the Terminal window and press Enter/Return
  • You should see output similar to

openssl md5 Win10_2004_English_x64.iso
MD5(Win10_2004_English_x64.iso)= 3cf9848ce17271e7c895366bdad98a8e

The ISO can be block-corrupted when downloading it over a wireless connection.
