AirPlay Missing From Mid-2021 MacBook Pro

I purchased a new Smart TV (Vizio) and it has AirPlay capabilities that is really super easy to use. However, my mid-MacBook Pro no longer has the AirPlay icon at the top menu.

I've gone into setting preference, displays and checked the mirror button. AirPlay still shows turned off as it's not picking up any monitors on the same Wi-Fi, and the AirPlay icon is still not showing at the top of the menu bar.

OS is Mojave 10.14.6. Somewhat reluctant to get a newer version or move to Catalina given the Logic Pro X plugins I have and limited CPU I have with this MBP (although I recently replaced with a 1 TB SSD and maxed it out at 16 GB RAM).

Any solutions? Do I need to upgrade the OS to the most recent version to fix?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14

macOS Mojave has AirPlay 2 support. You should be fine with Mojave as far as Airplay is concerned.

Try the following-

  1. Reset SMC by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset SMC. If that does not solve things then-
  2. Reset NVRAM/PRAM by following the directions applicable to your MacBook here ➔ How to Reset NVR
  3. Finally if none of the above works then you can enter ➔ macOS Recovery Mode and reinstall the macOS Mojave and see if that solves it.

Thanks. I tried the first two above and didn’t work. I also upgraded Mojave with the most recent version. Thinking I may take the plunge on Catalina OS since it should work in theory based on the hard drive and memory upgrades I made. Still makes me a little nervous regarding the CPU on the mid-2013 MBP and the Logic Pro X plugins I’m using.

What's funny is that I was going to make the move to Catalina but wanted to backup my iPhone and Time Machine before doing it. I'm traveling for the long weekend and when booting up to do all of this, the icon all of sudden showed up in the top menu with someone's Apple TV as a mirroring/AirPlay option.

Maybe it was a timing issue where I needed to reboot a second time after updating Mojave? Anyway, I'll try AirPlay again when I get back home to see if it's resolved.

Thanks for all your help.
