Mac Book Pro Audio Problems.

Hi,

I have an audio problem with a Mac Book Pro (16", 2019) Catalina 10.15.6.

There is a low level intermittent, repetitive clicking sound that seems to happen at random (example video here). This doesn't seem to be a result of any specific activity on my computer. It happens in various programs (Safari, Logic, Max/MSP). It also happens in Finder with no other software running. It is not a result of performing intensive tasks.

If I record audio to disc while the noise is happening, it doesn't print it to the file.

As suggested by Apple, I reset the NVRAM/PRAM. The problem continued.

I then sent my computer for repair at my local Apple Store - it was returned with a product repair summary that stated that, "Our technicians performed comprehensive testing and determined that the symptoms you reported were within Apple's specifications for acceptable appearance, performance, usability, and functionality. Because it was within spec we didn't perform any repairs for those symptoms. Your product passed every diagnostics test we performed."

The technicians at the Apple Store factory-reset my computer. After receiving my computer back again, I set it up and I was able to recreate the problem immediately. The problem continues (intermittently).

Apple suggested that this interference might be environmental. I have a 2012 Mac Book Pro here that doesn't have the same problem and my wife and I both have iPhones, neither of which have the same problem. Furthermore, the noise also occurs when I use this computer at work.

Does any one else experience this?! It's very low level - barely discernible when casually listening to certain kinds of music. It is clearly audible when listening to an unprocessed sine wave.

As a composer, and to contradict the technicians at Apple, this is unacceptable.

I have made a video demonstrating the audio interference here: https://youtu.be/jZxUDMUOuIY

Can anyone suggest what this might be?

Cheers
