Some system audio is sent to Alexa speaker when it is NOT selected as an output device...

Hi.

I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch 2017) running Catalina 10.15.6.

Lately I've had a strange issue where some sounds (e.g. alert sounds) will go through my Bluetooth connected Alexa Echo speaker, even though it is NOT selected as the audio Output Device in my audio settings (I have "Internal Speaker" chosen), while other sounds such as the sound the system makes when turning up or down the volume, as well as YouTube, continue going through the Internal Speakers.

I should also note, the Alexa speaker is "connected" to my MacBook via Bluetooth when this occurs, just not chosen as the Output Device for audio, so no audio should be going through that speaker.

FWIW, this is as good a place as any to post. What is set for "Play sound effects through:" in System Preferences > Sound > Sound Effects?

Aha!! You're my savior! I'm not sure how that got changed (I didn't change it) but it was indeed set to the Alexa. I should have thought to check that so thanks! Now the million dollar question is whether or not it changes on it's own each time I set the Alexa speaker as the output destination. I flip back and forth using the menu bar sound drop-down options for "Output Device" when I'm listening to music.
