I have interlaced footage that must be exported as progressisve to be used properly elsewhere.
What settings should I use? Preferably a ProRes codec.
Should I create a progressive project and export that?

Then I guess projects is the way, though I don't see why you'd lose frames, especially if you left the selections loose. If they're going to be reprocessed then I'd definitely go with ProRes. Are you delivering this to someone? What do they want?

Whenever I use 1440x1080 footage I manually create a 1920x1080p project.
This is to ensure that the footage is always seen as 1920x1080 and doesn't have to rely on some code embedded in it to remind the player how to display it . . . . which may not work properly in future.
Furthermore I export it as an H.264 Masterfile which is comparatively small and the quality is indistinguishable from the original.
Somebody may be able to prove that ProRes would be better but we would be in the realms of splitting hairs.
It's the best way if you want to make a project. If you need to batch export a bunch of clips and change the output aspect ration I'd use Compressor. Set up a H.264 preset with PCM 1920x1080 and deinterlace the clips,

The problem is I want to export portions of the clips, not the whole clip. And add some frames to either side, because they will get processed again and I worry about losing a couple frames.
Are you exporting a project or you just need to convert the clips to progressive?
I just need to convert clips to progressive, tho I was thinking of creating a progressive project and exporting from there.
Btw the footage is 1440x1080. I was going to create an HD progressisve project and use that.

My only problem with exporting as h.264 is the audio is exported as AAC, and isn't as good as linear pcm
The audio may or may not be as good but can you or anyone else hear the difference?
