Change Apple ID on a locket IPad that the old owner says been removed from old owner’s icloud list

The old owner say he has removed the ipad Apple ID from his icloud account but the ipad still display a activation lock and it says that the iPad is linked to an Apple ID.

And that the Apple ID and password used to set up this IPAD needs to be put in to unlock it.

It says it needs a password because the owner has used Find my iphone to link it to their Apple ID.

How can we put in another Apple ID and use the iPad if we cannot unlock it?

The old owner says he cannot do anything that he removed it and it does not show up on his iCloud list anymore. Can this be correct since it is still a activation lock on the ipad?

If Activation Lock shows up, it means the device is still locked to another Apple ID.

What could happen is that the previous owner wasn’t aware of someone else using an Apple ID on that device. Or they might have another iPad on the list, and did not realise they’ve removed the wrong one instead.

Get in touch with them once again, an make sure you go through the steps on this link:

TURN OFF ACTIVATION LOCK.

If it still does not work, ask the owner to contact Apple support to check any issues with iCloud and Apple ID on www.getsupport.apple.com or via the Support App on iPhone/iPad.

Good luck,

Simply said you can't. The Old Owner, either lied or didn't remove activation lock. This happens all the time with buying used iPad/iPhone. I recommend since Apple won't touch the device or help you and we can't help you, you return the device for refund.

No the owner who is acquaintance did not buy it from someone else. It work first but it had his Apple id on and it was automatically signed in. My son was going to change Apple ID since the owner wanted that but he got busy with something else and when he returned to the iPad 2 hours later to finish the change it was locked and it said someone activated Find My iphone So it is clear the person locked the iPad by using the Find me thing.
